Workshop
Strengthening the Capacity of Electric Cooperatives to Develop Renewable Energy Mini-Grids and Distributed Power Generation Projects
This 3-day workshop (June 21 - 23) will focus on the technical, regulatory and financial aspects of developing renewable energy mini-grid projects. The goal is to equip Philippine electric cooperatives with tools and skills to initiate and develop RE or RE-hybrid systems to enable them to provide electricity access to unserved households or to improve the reliability of their energy supply.
The first day of the workshop focuses on the opportunities for mini-grids in the country and the regulatory framework that surrounds the mini-grid and RE sectors. The afternoon will be dedicated to learning about the HOMER software, a preliminary assessment tool for proper sizing of target sites. The second day of the workshop will focus on conducting financial analysis and exploring financing opportunities for mini-grids. The third and final day is a hands-on training on project designing and financial assessment. The workshop will end by allowing the ECs to present their potential mini-grid projects to the group.
