The Andrew J. Wild Institute is one of the oldest A-Level colleges in Nepal. They offer the rigorous Cambridge International Examinations to prepare students for higher education. AJW wanted to expand to offer Bachelors and Masters degrees, but with constant load shedding, it didn't make sense invest in the computer labs and other equipment they would need. SunFarmer helped AJW go solar. With an 18kW solar energy system, they can now power all the equipment they need to expand, without fear of load shedding. Best of all, they have bypassed diesel generators and the reliance on dirty and expensive fuel. The next time a fuel shortage strikes, AJW students will continue studying right through it.

Electricity was a big problem, especially during dry winter season i.e. 7-13 hours of load-shedding per day. During load-shedding period, the institute lacks energy due to unavailability of any other alternative source. Before solar, the institute couldn't operate the classes smoothly - no power-point presentations, no printing, no space heaters, no internet even though they are paying for it. While students could study the theoretical part in the classroom, they were at a loss about what to do regarding practical part like computer classes without electricity.

SunFarmer helped AJW go solar. With an 18 kW solar energy system, they can now power all the equipment they need to expand, without fear of load shedding. AJW Solar PV system has been designed to make solar installation simple yet robust and reliable. The system consists of high quality power generation unit from NoCart (Finland) that allows system plug and play. Solar PV array is connected at a relatively high voltage DC to improve system efficiency reducing transmission losses , the system allows the battery bank to connect at flexible voltage level. The system allows self consumption thus maximizing use of the solar generation and can easily sync with other power sources like grid , generator, wind turbine or bio-gasifier. The system has remote monitoring and control and allows customizable programming for system use optimization.
